Retaining Compounds

« Back to Glossary Index

Retaining compounds are a type of adhesive product designed to fill the space between two mechanical components. They can be used when installing bearings inside of houses or shafts, can help hold gears together, and can help in retaining cylindrical liners. Retaining adhesives cure when confined either in or without the presence of air between close fitting metal surfaces. Once cured, retaining compounds form a strong and reliable bond between components that aids in creating precise assemblies as well as helping to prevent loosening and leakage from shock and vibration during operation.
